Afternoon naps can reboot and restart my day even when it’s almost done.
As a child I remember my grandmother always made me go to sleep right after lunchtime. For me it was something my grandmother imposed on me. I hated afternoon nap time. Grandma would say, “go to sleep so that you can grow” I never quite understood what she meant, I knew for sure that I would grow whether I slept or not.
Now here I am a grown woman and finally learning what it means to rest as much as possible. I am always doing this or that, whatever time of the day you find me I’m doing something. I feel guilty if I give myself a little shut eye, I feel as if I’m slacking off.
I have learned the hard way what sleep deprivation and extreme exhaustion can do to the mind and body. So right now even as I am writing this blog I know I should be taking my afternoon nap. Time to detox, de-stress, recharge and most definitely time to sleep.
